Artisans

In a highly successful effort to help fill the world’s need for saddles, the firms started by Al Furstnow and Charlie Coggshall blended assembly line techniques from back East with custom care exercised by the one-man shops of the West.

Miles City saddleries employed dozens of men who came to specialize in various aspects of making this most necessary of cowboy tools. Some saddlemakers made four to six saddles per week, and some stayed in the business long enough to make 2,000 to 3,000 saddles.

What they say about us

  • Very beautiful leather work. Nice selection of saddles and accessories. Very rich in history. I definitely recommend taking the time to check out this shop!

I love this place! They "adopted" my mom's coat back that Uncle Emil had made there in 1948 or so. It's beautiful; hand beaded with over 1,500 beads and slanting tassels. Not a bead missing nor tassel missing! Mom left it to me but I was sensitive to something in the fabric, so I donated it to Miles City Saddlery. I'm happy it went back to it's original HOME! Mom would like that I think.

We travel about 4000 miles a year with our camper, I read reviews to pick where we go, so I write reviews. This saddlery shop is absolutely fabulous, first if you need something Im sure they will have it(we actually have horse's at home). Secondly make sure to ask for the tour of the mist amazing historical items on display upstairs and have the wonderful woman narrate for you, its just fantastic. I hope this historical find stays forever it will be sad if it gets swept away like everything else in this world.
